National research project for the preservation of building culture

The “Upper Valais building renovation” project is implemented in collaboration with various Swiss workshops, architects and engineers, as well as the Berne University of Applied Sciences Timber Construction department. The project by Veta Nova aims to preserve Valais building culture, manage planning processes more efficiently and reduce the costs for building renovations.

The listed wooden chalet on the Riederalp was renovated as part of this project. Since it is a historic building, only interior renovation was possible. The chalet has a massive cellar and foundation. The ground floor and first floor were built using wooden planks. SIGA was involved from the outset and supported the architects, as well as the furniture and room workshop, joiners and project planning, in the planning and implementation of the airtight building envelope.

The building was originally the residence for a chapel and is used today as a holiday home.
