Selecting products designed for airtightness
Steven Thaker, Director at Kaven Developments, has been in the construction industry for over a decade. When it comes to selecting products for his projects, Thaker understands what contributes to success on his job sites.
The River Road Home project in Richmond, BC had unique design challenges. The building features angled ceilings, varying ceiling heights, and other architectural elements that complicate meeting local building code standards.
Thaker needed a product to help his team comply with local building codes and simplify installation for better results. He chose SIGA’s Majvest 500 SA for its proven performance.
“The performance of the [Majvest 500 SA] is superior to what’s available on the market right now,” he explains. “It’s really good, especially with airtightness so important now.”
Kaven Developments’ projects often incorporate a mix of materials, such as stucco and stone, and intricate finishes. These elements often create difficulties in achieving airtightness in the homes he builds.
The home's complex design, goals for efficiency and airtightness, and need for protection from the elements meant the WRB would need to support both aesthetic goals and deliver on durability.
A window package shipping delay created another hurdle for the project team.
“The durability of SIGA's peel-and-stick WRB was a game-changer for us, especially since we faced a long turnaround time for our window package, which was coming from overseas. The WRB held up exceptionally well despite the delay, proving its reliability.”
